Reading the ingredient list is the quickest way to judge any supplement, and ProDentim makes that easy. The formula is short: three named probiotic strains and a blend of four plants and minerals. This page goes through each one, says what the seller claims for it, and puts it next to the research that exists. Everything about the roles comes from the seller; the research notes are ours.
First, a point about how much the seller tells you. The sales page states that each soft tablet delivers 3.5 billion probiotics in total. It does not publish an amount for every individual ingredient, and we do not guess at them. If you want to talk the label through with a professional, the list is short enough to do that in a couple of minutes.
The three probiotic strains
Lactobacillus paracasei
In the seller’s words, this strain backs gum health and keeps the sinuses open and clear. It is the strain the product’s story leans on most for the gums. Lactobacillus species are among the best-known probiotic families, and you will meet them on many labels, which is part of why this one is easy to look up.
B. lactis BL-04
This is the formula’s only Bifidobacterium. The seller links it to the balance of bacteria in the mouth, to the respiratory tract and to a healthy immune system. If you read other websites that mention more than one Bifidobacterium in ProDentim, they are mistaken: the label names BL-04 and nothing else in that family. A 2018 randomized trial in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology studied a Bifidobacterium probiotic in people with chronic periodontitis. It did not test ProDentim, but it shows that this family of bacteria is being studied in dental research.
Lactobacillus reuteri
The seller says this strain supports a healthy mouth environment and, in its words, helps with inflammation. A 2018 paper in Frontiers in Microbiology reviews what is known about L. reuteri across human health. Again, it is general research and not a test of this product.
The four-ingredient blend
The seller lists a proprietary blend of four plants and minerals alongside the strains.
Inulin
Inulin is a prebiotic fiber. A prebiotic is food for friendly bacteria, so the seller describes inulin as supporting the good bacteria that arrive in the tablet. Pairing a probiotic with a prebiotic is a common design in this category, and it is a sensible one: the strains and the fiber that feeds them arrive together.
Malic acid
Malic acid is a fruit acid, and the seller notes that it is found in strawberries. Its stated role in the formula is helping maintain tooth whiteness. Some websites say the malic acid in ProDentim comes from apples. The seller says strawberries, so we go with that.
Tricalcium phosphate
This is a calcium mineral, and the seller describes it as supporting tooth health. Calcium phosphates are familiar to anyone who has read a toothpaste label, so the ingredient is not an unusual one in oral care.
Peppermint
The seller calls peppermint a natural anti-inflammatory, and it adds to the fresh-breath story on the label. It is peppermint and not spearmint. Anyone who knows they are sensitive to peppermint should take that into account and talk to a doctor first.
The ingredient list at a glance
| Ingredient | Type | Seller’s stated role |
|---|---|---|
| Lactobacillus paracasei | Probiotic | Gum health; open, clear sinuses |
| B. lactis BL-04 | Probiotic | Balance of mouth bacteria; respiratory tract; healthy immune system |
| Lactobacillus reuteri | Probiotic | Healthy mouth environment; helps with inflammation |
| Inulin | Prebiotic fiber | Supports the good bacteria |
| Malic acid | Fruit acid | Helps maintain tooth whiteness |
| Tricalcium phosphate | Mineral | Supports tooth health |
| Peppermint | Plant | Natural anti-inflammatory; fresh-breath feel |
What else is on the label
The bottle reads ProDentim, Advanced Oral Probiotics, and lists the areas the seller targets: healthy teeth and gums, long-lasting fresh breath, and ear, nose and throat and immune health. There are 30 soft tablets in a bottle. The seller adds a handful of badges: a natural formula, simple use, a GMO-free and gluten-free recipe, no stimulants and nothing habit forming.
A seal strip on the seller’s order page shows GMP certified, made in an FDA-registered facility, 100% natural ingredients, made in USA and GMO free. We report those as the seller’s statements. About the FDA wording: the FDA does not approve supplement brands before they are sold, so being made in a registered facility describes the factory, not an approval of the product.
How to read a probiotic label
A few habits make any probiotic label easier to judge, and they apply to ProDentim as well.
- Look for strain names, not just genus names. ProDentim names its strains, which is a good sign.
- Check the total count. The 3.5 billion figure is the seller’s stated total per tablet.
- Look at what travels with the strains. Inulin is there to support them.
- Ask what is missing. Here, individual doses are not published, so a professional cannot size each one.
- Check your own sensitivities. Peppermint is the one plant in the list most people will recognize.
What the research does and does not say
Research on probiotics and the mouth is real and growing. A 2021 review in Frontiers in Dental Medicine looked at probiotics for gum conditions, and the probiotics overview from the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements sets out what these products are and how much about strains and doses is still open. None of this is a test of ProDentim itself, and we say so plainly. The research is a reason to take oral probiotics seriously as a category, and not a promise about any one product.
For a friendly walk through the list, our ProDentim ingredients guide covers the same ground in a shorter format, and the ProDentim buyer’s guide shows the ingredients next to the price and the guarantee.
Who should check the label with a professional
Ask a doctor, pharmacist or dentist first if you are pregnant or nursing, take prescription medication, have a medical condition or an immune system concern, are sensitive to any ingredient above, or are thinking of giving ProDentim to a child. ProDentim is a dietary supplement, not a medicine, and individual results vary.
