Privacy policy

We collect as little as we can. This page explains what that is, why we collect it and what you can do about it.

Who we are

OccHealthNews ("we", "us") publishes https://occhealthnews.com. For any question about this policy or your data, email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy request".

What we collect

Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message. We use it to reply and keep it only as long as the conversation needs.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting provider and content delivery network (Cloudflare) record standard server logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring page, date and time. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention and performance and are retained for a limited period.

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand which articles are read. Where analytics is in use, we configure it to anonymise IP addresses and we do not use it to build individual profiles. We will update this policy with the specific provider when one is enabled.

Cookies

The site itself does not set cookies to track you. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie for security and bot detection. Third-party sites you reach through our links, including affiliate merchants, set their own cookies under their own policies.

Affiliate links

Some links are affiliate links. When you click one, the merchant or affiliate network (for example ClickBank) may record the referral so that a commission can be attributed to us if you buy. We do not receive your personal details from that transaction beyond aggregate commission reports. See our affiliate disclosure.

How we use information

  • To operate, secure and improve the website.
  • To respond to your messages.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which content is useful.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties except service providers who process it on our behalf (hosting, CDN, email) under their own contractual obligations, or where the law requires.

Legal bases (EEA and UK readers)

We process server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website. We process your correspondence on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to you. Where we ever rely on consent, for example for non-essential analytics, we will ask for it first.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what we collect and the right to opt out of sale, which we do not do. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Data retention and security

We keep correspondence for up to 12 months after the last message unless a longer period is required by law. Server logs are retained by our providers according to their standard schedules. The site is served over HTTPS and access to our systems is restricted to people who need it.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged on the site.
